Distributed utility‐based real‐time power flow optimization in ICT‐enabled low voltage distribution grids

Low-Voltage (LV) distribution grids are facing a rapid increase of connected Photovoltaic (PV) power plants as well flexible consumers like Battery-Electric Vehicle (BEV) chargers and Heat Pumps (HPs). The coordinated operation these generation, storage consumption units, referred to Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), is regarded key requirement maximize the benefits renewable generation without violating, for example, voltage limits. Therefore, an management scheme was proposed in previous work that optimizes flows LV real-time, where optimality expressed maximization utility DER owners experience from or injection, respectively. In this contribution, method extended by: (1) detailing time-varying utility-model express customer needs, (2) introducing distributed implementation enhancing robustness failures, (3) developing testbed using real-time digital grid simulator communication network emulator, (4) integrating information flooding protocol. performance evaluated different simulation scenarios, showing able cooperatively utilize units order fulfil owners' needs even event controller failures constrained communication.
